The third in a very short and pointless series about irritating inspirational sayings.
If I knew I could not fail, I would definitely go and make fun of someone who made up inspirational sayings.
I mean, how did this saying even get started? I imagine the conversation went like this:
Person A: “I would like to do that thing I’ve been meaning to do but if I fail at it, it will be very embarrassing and I might lose my job.”
Person B: “That sounds stressful. Have you thought about what you would do if you knew you couldn’t fail?”
Person A: “Yes, I think about that all the time but the truth is, I can fail. And if I fail, I might not have a job and then my family will go hungry and we might have to live on the street so for the moment, I’m pretty focused on ACTUALLY NOT FAILING rather than some creative flight of fancy about a world in which people can’t fail but WHATEVER, maybe that world works for you. Good luck with your Centrelink application.”
Person B: [goes off to make a poster that says “What would you do if you knew you could not fail?” and rewards self when finished with a really strong cup of chai]
